Baseball Recap: Shelley Takes a Loss

Shelley extended their losing streak to 12 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They fell 8-3 to the Blackfoot Broncos. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Broncos this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-2 on Thursday.

Thad Lindsey was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Kael Remington was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

As for Blackfoot, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On Blackfoot's side, Nash Randall tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Randall has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Easton Cannon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Blackfoot is undefeated when Cannon posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Wren, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

While Shelley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
