Basketball Game Preview: Cienega Bobcats vs. Marana Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Cienega Bobcats duke it out with the Marana Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday... The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Last Friday, Cienega came up short against Flowing Wells and fell 60-49. The Bobcats were down 60-28 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Cienega's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Amaya Woolford, who posted seven points in addition to ten blocks and eight rebounds, and Alysiana Robles, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 15 points. Those ten blocks gave Woolford a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Elisea, who put up seven points.

Meanwhile, Marana lost to Casa Grande on the road by a 39-25 margin on Friday.

Marana's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Cienega, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Cienega beat Marana 57-45 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Will Cienega repeat their success, or does Marana have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
