Recap: Forest Hill Patriots vs. Picayune Maroon Tide
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Forest Hill Patriots can now relate to. They were dealt a 42-0 defeat at the hands of Picayune on Friday. While losing is never fun, Forest Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Picayune is ranked eighth).
Leading Picayune to victory were Chris Davis and Niquis Ratcliff. Davis rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, while Ratcliff rushed for 88 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Contee, who rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.
This is the second loss in a row for Forest Hill and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for Picayune, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Forest Hill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Picayune will take on Pascagoula at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pascagoula is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
