Basketball Recap: Wickliffe Takes a Loss

Wickliffe lost against Crestwood back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Wickliffe Blue Devils fell 49-36 to the Crestwood Red Devils. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 556th, while the Red Devils are ranked 184th).

Crestwood was led to victory by Hannah Ward and Madison Dustman. Ward went 7 for 13 en route to 19 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Dustman went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points and five steals. Ward is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Brady, who posted 11 points.

Wickliffe's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Crestwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wickliffe will head out to face off against Hawken at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Crestwood, they will venture away from home to take on Norwayne at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Norwayne will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Crestwood surely won't give up without a fight.
