Basketball Game Preview: Hendersonville Commandos vs. Green Hill Hawks

The Hendersonville Commandos will face off against the Green Hill Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Hendersonville turned things around against Gallatin on Tuesday. They blew past the Green Wave, posting a 62-15 win. That looming 62-15 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Commandos yet this season.

Meanwhile, Green Hill entered their tilt with Station Camp on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 60-47 victory over the Bison. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Bison are ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hendersonville better focus on containing Kataira Tolbert and Sullie Gerik as the pair were huge in Green Hill's win. Tolbert went 8 of 9 on her way to 18 points and seven rebounds, while Gerik went 7 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals. What's more, Tolbert also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Willa Heilman was another key player, putting up four points along with six assists and three steals.

Green Hill was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Hendersonville's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 10-9. As for Green Hill, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Things could have been worse for Hendersonville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 42-26 loss to Green Hill in their previous meeting on January 14th. Can Hendersonville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
