Basketball Recap: James F. Byrnes Falls Short Against Ranked Blythewood

On Wednesday, James F. Byrnes faced Blythewood in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The James F. Byrnes Rebels received a blow as they fell 73-58 to the Blythewood Bengals. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Despite the loss, James F. Byrnes saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Colt Fowler almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Sukhi Singh, who posted ten points.

James F. Byrnes has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 24-4 record this season. Blythewood has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

James F. Byrnes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Blythewood, they will face off against Clover at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clover knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Blythewood likes a good challenge.
