Football Recap: Southern Comes Up Short

Southern had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-5 to make it seven. They took a 34-26 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trimble Tomcats. The Tornadoes were not able to make up for their loss to the Tomcats from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

As for Trimble, their win bumped their record up to 4-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their six-point performance the game before.

It was another big night for Luke Orsborne, who rushed for 243 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Trimble's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Coming up, Southern will be playing at home against Waterford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so the Tornadoes' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Trimble, they will head out to face off against Belpre at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tomcats will be up against the Golden Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
