Basketball Recap: Southside Christian Falls Despite Big Games from Luca Preciado and Zach Pope

Southside Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilson Christian Academy Chargers. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Zach Pope and Luca Preciado certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Pope almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine boards, while Preciado posted nine points and five assists. Pope has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times he's played.

Southside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Wilson Christian Academy, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.

When Southside Christian and Wilson Christian Academy next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Southside Christian will try to stop Wilmington Christian Academy's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Wilson Christian Academy will try to stop Hilltop Christian's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
