Basketball Recap: Los Lunas Comes Up Short

Los Lunas lost against Sandia back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Los Lunas Tigers came up short against the Sandia Matadors, falling 77-57. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Matadors are ranked second).

This is the second loss in a row for Los Lunas and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for Sandia, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Los Lunas Tigers take on the Piedra Vista Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on December 27th. Los Lunas is facing Piedra Vista at the right time seeing as Piedra Vista is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Sandia and Las Cruces will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
