Baseball Recap: Carvers Bay Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Carvers Bay ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Green Sea Floyds Trojans 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Trojans back in March, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Brantley Jones made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carvers Bay is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-8 otherwise. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Myles Matthews, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave Matthews a new career-high.

Carvers Bay's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Green Sea Floyds, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.

Looking ahead, Carvers Bay will host Andrews at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears are facing the Yellowjackets at the right time seeing as the Yellowjackets are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Green Sea Floyds, they will head out to take on Lake View at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wild Gators' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
