Recap: Bayfield Wolverines vs. Centauri Falcons
The Bayfield Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 62-39 defeat at the hands of Centauri. While losing is never fun, Bayfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Centauri is ranked 98th).
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Forsythe, who scored seven points. Vincent Mccullough was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds.
Centauri can attribute much of their success to Carson Bagwell, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Anderson, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Bayfield bumped their record down to 1-9 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Centauri, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Bayfield and Ignacio will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Centauri, Centauri and Montezuma-Cortez will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Montezuma-Cortez focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday.
