George Wilcox Turns in Season-Best Performance

Leake Academy was led to victory by George Wilcox, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Wilcox's passing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 315 passing yards dating back to last season. He also passed for 358 passing yards, which is notable because Leake Academy is 3-1 when he posts at least 250 passing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Unfortunately for Pillow Academy, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Wilcox. Back in September of 2023 (the last time Wilcox saw the Mustangs), he threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns.

Matthew Nowell Delivers Best Effort of Season

Matthew Nowell produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Leake Academy to the win on Friday. Nowell picked up 99 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Unfortunately for Pillow Academy, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Nowell. When Nowell last faced the Mustangs back in September of 2023, he picked up 124 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

A Season-Best Performance from Jalin Trotter Leads Lamar over Copiah Academy

On Friday, Lamar got the W thanks in part to Jalin Trotter playing the best football he has all season. Trotter picked up 155 receiving yards and three touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 57 yards.

Trotter and Lamar will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Leake Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th. Trotter will face off against Matthew Nowell, the Rebels' star pass catcher. The only thing left to do is find out who's the greater deep ball threat. You'll have to watch the game to know for sure.
