Preview: Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes vs. The Woodlands Highlanders
The Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes will take on The Woodlands Highlanders at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Duncanville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully The Woodlands likes a good challenge.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Duncanville had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past Rockwall-Heath 62-24 on the road. Considering Duncanville has won ten matches by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Caden Durham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 220 yards and five touchdowns on only 15 carries. Durham has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last four times he's played. Keelon Russell was another key contributor, throwing for 308 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Meanwhile, The Woodlands slipped by Klein Collins 28-27 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for The Woodlands.
Mabrey Mettauer got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Duncanville to 10-1 and The Woodlands to 9-3.
Everything came up roses for Duncanville against The Woodlands in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 35-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Duncanville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
