Volleyball Recap: Highland Park Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

If Vernon Hills wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Highland Park, they should've done a better job of containing Austin Gerber. The Giants walked away with a 2-0 win over the Cougars on Tuesday for which the team can thank Gerber, who had ten digs and three assists. He has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times he's played.

Highland Park easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-9.

Highland Park is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Vernon Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Highland Park will face off against rival Niles West at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Vernon Hills is set to take on their familiar foe Maine East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
