Baseball Game Preview: Bayfield Trollers vs. South Shore Cardinals

For the second straight game, Bayfield will face off against South Shore. The Trollers will head out on the road to challenge the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bayfield comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Bayfield made up a huge gap compared to their last game against South Shore, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trollers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 9-7 on Monday. On the bright side, the seven- run effort marked the Trollers' highest-scoring contest to date.

For South Shore's part, Hayden Meritz was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Meritz was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Blue Madison was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Eli Meritz also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

South Shore's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10. As for Bayfield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bayfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like South Shore struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
