Volleyball Game Preview: Simsbury Trojans vs. Southington Blue Knights

Simsbury hasn't had much luck against Southington recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Trojans will welcome the Blue Knights at 5:00 p.m. Simsbury will be looking to extend their current 17-game winning streak.

Simsbury had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Bloomfield last Monday. The Trojans blew past the Warhawks 3-0.

Simsbury found their leader in freshman Delaney Hallam, who had six aces and four digs. Hallam has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 38 times she's played. Katie McClung also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Simsbury was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Southington got the win against Berlin on Monday by a conclusive 3-0. The Blue Knights haven't had any issues with the Redcoats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

One reason for the win was Southington's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-19, 25-17.

Simsbury's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Southington, their victory bumped their record up to 16-10-3.

Simsbury was able to grind out a solid win over Southington in their previous matchup back in September, winning 3-1. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
