Basketball Recap: Howe Drops Season-High Score on Wilburton

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Howe). They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging an 84-26 win over the Wilburton Diggers. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Diggers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Howe's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Slatey Jo Free, who went 6-for-12 on her way to 13 points and four steals. Free has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Josey Peterson was another key player, going 6-for-8 en route to 17 points.

Howe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Howe pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.7 points over those games. As for Wilburton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season.

As of now, neither Howe nor Wilburton have any future games scheduled.
