Recap: Bloomfield Bobcats vs. Farmington Scorpions

After soaring to 57 points the game before, the Bloomfield Bobcats were a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They were dealt a 64-20 defeat at the hands of Farmington. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bloomfield in their matchups with Farmington: they've now lost seven in a row.
Andrew Florez and Sam Slivers certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Florez scored six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Slivers scored six points. That's the first time this season that Florez posted two or more blocks.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Bloomfield struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Farmington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Beck, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cody Vassar-steen, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Bloomfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Farmington, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bloomfield will take on Piedra Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Piedra Vista is ranked 114th, while Bloomfield is ranked 95th). Farmington will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Sandia at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Sandia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 634 points over their last nine matches.
