Basketball Recap: Mooresville Takes a Loss

Mooresville suffered their biggest loss since November 19, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 72-31 defeat at the hands of the Plainfield Quakers. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Quakers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Mooresville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Shafer, who posted five points and five assists.

Plainfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Abrielle Dugan out in front who put up 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Menser, who scored ten points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Mooresville's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 14-7. As for Plainfield, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Mooresville and Plainfield should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. Mooresville (ranked 77th) will meet Columbus East (ranked 324th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Plainfield will challenge Decatur Central at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st up 190 places (15 vs. 205).
