Guilford came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Platt Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 34-20.

Alex Tafro had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 99 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 173 yards on only 11 passes. Another player making a difference was Aiden Ruotolo, who gained 128 total yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Guilford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 197 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Platt, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Guilford will square off against Hamden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Platt, they will face off against Simsbury at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
