Baseball Recap: Henry Hudson Gets the Win

After losing to Bound Brook the last time they met, Henry Hudson decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Admirals walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Crusaders on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Admirals.

Jack Burton and David Ortore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Burton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ortore didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Henry Hudson is undefeated when Burton allows three or fewer hits, but 6-11 otherwise. At bat, Burton earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base, while Ortore went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Nathan Boms and Jack Dail did most of the damage at the plate: Boms went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Dail got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. What's more, Boms posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Locklear, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Henry Hudson's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Bound Brook, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Henry Hudson will challenge East Brunswick Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bound Brook, they will host Delaware Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
