Baseball Recap: Murphy Triumphs

Murphy's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Andrews Wildcats 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Wildcats on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-7 defeat.

Colton Morgan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Murphy is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Murphy secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Aayden Williams, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Murphy's win bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Andrews, their loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10.

Coincidentally, Murphy and Andrews will both be playing Hiwassee Dam the next time they take the field. The Bulldogs will host the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
