Softball Recap: Walker Wins Going Away Against Darlington

Walker won the last time they faced Darlington and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wolverines blew past the Tigers 16-4. Considering the Wolverines have won five games by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Reese Dege was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Kaila Figueiredo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Walker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.

Walker has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Darlington, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Walker will host Rome at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Darlington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
