Page had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Northern Guilford put an end to it on Tuesday. The Pirates took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nighthawks. The Pirates have struggled against the Nighthawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Meanwhile, Burlington Christian Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Patriots. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Cohen Payne was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Valdez, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mark Primm, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Burlington Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freedom Christian Academy only posted a batting average of .276.
Burlington Christian Academy's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Page, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Page has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Burlington Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
