Baseball Recap: Cole Takes a Loss

Marion hit Cole with a six-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 on April 1st.

Cole has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Marion, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cole will head out to challenge Great Hearts Northern Oaks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Griffins have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Marion, they will venture away from home to face off against Poteet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Aggies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.72 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
