Baseball Game Preview: Downtown Doral Dolphins vs. Hialeah Thoroughbreds

The Downtown Doral Dolphins will face off against the Hialeah Thoroughbreds at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Downtown Doral and three for Hialeah.

On Wednesday, Downtown Doral came up short against Hialeah Gardens and fell 10-5.

Meanwhile, Hialeah came up short against Miami Beach on Wednesday, falling 14-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Thoroughbreds have suffered against the Hi-Tides since April 6, 2016.

Hialeah got a good showing from Cody Gomez, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Gomez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joshua Giron made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That run was his first of the season.

Downtown Doral's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Hialeah, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.
