Basketball Game Preview: East Carter Raiders vs. Elliott County Lions

The East Carter Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the Elliott County Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

East Carter is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since January 27th on Saturday. They fell just short of Bath County by a score of 56-54. While the Raiders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 19-7 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Elliott County was not able to break out of their rough patch last Saturday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Fairview, falling 48-27. One positive for the Lions, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Elliott County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for East Carter, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.

Everything came up roses for East Carter against Elliott County in their previous meeting on February 7th, as the team secured a 72-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Carter since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
