Softball Game Preview: Neville Tigers vs. Pineville Rebels

The Neville Tigers will challenge the Pineville Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neville will be strutting in after a victory while Pineville will be coming in after a defeat.

Neville played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they were looking for. They blew past Ruston 14-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Meanwhile, Pineville faced Alexandria in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Pineville fell just short of Alexandria by a score of 8-6. The Rebels' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Jadin Basco was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Sicuro, who scored a run while going 3-for-6.

Basco wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Pineville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in five consecutive games.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-10. As for Pineville, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 14-2.

Neville skirted past Pineville 2-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2018. Does Neville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pineville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
