Recap: St. Johns Redskins vs. Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets
After a string of three wins, the St. Johns Redskins's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blue Ridge. St. Johns was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Blue Ridge apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2021.
St. Johns' loss came despite strong showings from Evelyn Andrus and Ellie Heap. Andrus scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds, while Heap scored 11 points. Heap scored a full 25.6% of St. Johns' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
St. Johns' defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Blue Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
St. Johns is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Joseph City at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Joseph City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully St. Johns likes a good challenge. As for Blue Ridge, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Coolidge at 6:00 p.m.
