Basketball Game Preview: East Lee County Jaguars vs. Gateway Eagles

The East Lee County Jaguars will take on the Gateway Eagles on Wednesday. East Lee County will be strutting in after a win while Gateway will be coming in after a defeat.

East Lee County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They snuck past Ida Baker with a 51-45 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Jaguars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Gateway unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of First Baptist Academy. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Lions are ranked 87th).

East Lee County's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-16. As for Gateway, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

East Lee County ended up a good deal behind Gateway in their previous matchup two weeks ago, losing 81-66. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gateway's Christopher Davis, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards.
