Baseball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Takes a Loss

After flying high against Parry McCluer on Thursday, Eastern Montgomery came back down to earth. The Mustangs came up short against the Giles Spartans on Monday, falling 10-1. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Eastern Montgomery saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Phoenix, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Phoenix's first of the season.

Eastern Montgomery's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Giles, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.

Eastern Montgomery will welcome Glenvar at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Giles, they will square off against Fort Chiswell at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
