Shawnee had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the West Liberty-Salem Tigers on Monday. The score was close at halftime, but Shawnee pulled away in the second half with two goals.

They hit West Liberty-Salem with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Phoebe Fout, Josie Sanford-Schmenk, and Hadley Mattern.

West Liberty-Salem now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

Shawnee wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next matchup, a 5-1 defeat against Fairbanks on the 20th. As for West Liberty-Salem, they will face off against Catholic Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The contest will give West Liberty-Salem their first taste of in-conference action this season.
