Softball Recap: Eastern Hancock Takes a Loss

If Eastern Hancock was riding high fresh off their 11-2 takedown of Monrovia on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Royals fell 12-7 to the Elkhart Lions on Saturday.

Alivia Willis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered 12 runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lilli Ringer and Chyan Evans stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ringer went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Evans went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was Evans' first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Wittgren, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Eastern Hancock has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Elkhart, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Eastern Hancock will venture away from home to take on New Palestine at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Elkhart, they will welcome South Bend Riley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
