Softball Recap: Shelley Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Shelley lost to Preston back in April of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Russets came out on top against the Indians by a score of 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Russets.

Macie Winder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Emersyn Drollinger was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Kynlie Behunin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Shelley pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Preston, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Shelley beat the Indians by a score of 6-4 later that day.
