Basketball Game Preview: Hug Hawks vs. Churchill County Greenwave

Hug is 0-3 against Churchill County since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Hug Hawks are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will take on the Churchill County Greenwave at 6:00 p.m. Hug is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.

Hug saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sparks.

Hug might have lost, but man, Cori Carrier was a machine: she dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. The matchup was Carrier's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taliyah Henderson, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Churchill County came up short against Pyramid Lake on Tuesday and fell 55-45. The Greenwave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hug's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Churchill County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Hug was dealt a bruising 56-11 defeat at the hands of Churchill County when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Churchill County's Jada Anastasio, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 15 points along with five assists and five boards.
