Softball Recap: Tippecanoe Valley Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Tippecanoe Valley can now relate to. They fell just short of the Columbia City Eagles by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Vikings couldn't push the score so high this time.

Dalynne Bussard was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Bussard wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kahlyn Manns, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Tippecanoe Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Columbia City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-5.

As of now, neither Tippecanoe Valley nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
