Basketball Game Preview: Mineral Ridge Rams vs. Springfield Tigers

Mineral Ridge hasn't had much luck against Springfield recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Mineral Ridge Rams will face off against the Springfield Tigers at 12:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Monday, Mineral Ridge didn't have quite enough to beat Columbiana and fell 46-44.

Meanwhile, Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-33 heartbreaker at the hands of Walsh Jesuit.

Mineral Ridge will have to contain Jameka Brungard as she made an impact in Springfield's last game. She dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. The match was Brungard's third in a row with at least ten points.

Mineral Ridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3. As for Springfield, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Mineral Ridge beat Springfield 58-49 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Brungard, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Mineral Ridge still be able to contain Brungard? There's only one way to find out.
