Oxford's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Clarkston Wolves. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 7-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Avery Speagle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Speagle was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Emily Hurst and Jillian Boyd did most of the damage at the plate: Hurst went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Boyd went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That's the most hits Boyd has posted over her last 12 matchups.

Oxford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Oxford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Clarkston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

Coming up, Clarkston will venture away from home to face off against Bloomfield Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oxford will be paying especially close attention to the Wolves' contest: after the Wolves face off against the Black Hawks, they'll take on Oxford again at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
