Football Recap: Skyline Spartans vs. Sunnyside Grizzlies
Skyline gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 24-8 victory over the Sunnyside Grizzlies.
Skyline's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Pirello, who threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 46 yards. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards. Cameron Weir was Pirello's top target, picking up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Skyline's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Jack Mayes and Luke Morgan. Morgan also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making four total tackles and defending a pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Skyline will challenge Tahoma at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sunnyside, they will be defending their home-field for the first time this season they go up against Coeur d'Alene at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
