Basketball Recap: Rivercrest's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Rivercrest was feeling good fresh off their 58-14 takedown of Armorel last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rivercrest Colts came up short against the Barton Bears on Thursday, falling 83-59. The Colts were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-22.

Despite the loss, Rivercrest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Gonzalez dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gonzalez has scored all season. Lakiya Speed was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.

Even though they lost, Rivercrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 21 consecutive matchups.
