Baseball Recap: Fort Knox Takes a Loss

After flying high against Burgin on Monday, Fort Knox came back down to earth. The Eagles lost 13-3 to the Elizabethtown Panthers on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 back in March.

Fort Knox saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Ortega, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Ortega is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

Fort Knox has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Elizabethtown, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Fort Knox is taking a road trip to take on Edmonson County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.76 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Elizabethtown, they will square off against North Hardin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
