Softball Recap: Monmouth-Roseville Takes a Loss

Monmouth-Roseville had lost eight straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-19 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Newman Central Catholic Comets by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Titans have suffered since April 10th.

For Newman Central Catholic's part, Gianna Vance made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Vance has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amiya Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

Monmouth-Roseville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Monmouth United on the 12th.
