Baseball Recap: Greenwich Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Greenwich duked it out with Ridgefield on Monday. The Cardinals walked away with a 9-5 win over the Tigers. The victory was nothing new for the Cardinals as they're now sitting on three straight.

Baxter Conte was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Greenwich's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-11-1 when he doesn't). Luke Wells was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Greenwich's win bumped their record up to 7-11-1. As for Ridgefield, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Coming up, Greenwich will welcome Westhill at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ridgefield, they will challenge Trumbull at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
