Softball Game Preview: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. Calabasas Coyotes

The Thousand Oaks Lancers will venture away from home to challenge the Calabasas Coyotes at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Thousand Oaks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Thousand Oaks came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Agoura, falling 11-1. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Lancers, who until this game were averaging 3.08 runs allowed.

Madison Jauregui was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Calabasas was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss. They fell 14-9 to Foothill Tech.

Ella Polvy made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Camryn Somoza, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Calabasas' defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Thousand Oaks, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-7-1.

Calabasas' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Thousand Oaks has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Calabasas, though, as they've been averaging 11.7 hits. Given Thousand Oaks' sizable advantage in that area, the Coyotes will need to find a way to close that gap.

Thousand Oaks took their win against Calabasas in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 12-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
