Baseball Game Preview: Sinton Pirates vs. Calhoun Sandcrabs

Sinton has gone a perfect 8-0 against Calhoun recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Pirates will look to defend their home field against the Sandcrabs at 7:00 p.m. Sinton will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Sinton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Cuero.

Dylan Arriaga made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Arriaga wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Clay Mitchell, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another was Kash Wood, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Calhoun came up short against Rockport-Fulton on Tuesday, falling 7-1. The Sandcrabs haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Calhoun also got a good showing from Dane Spencer, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The Sandcrabs are 2-1 when Spencer allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-10-1 otherwise.

Sinton pushed their record up to 15-5-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Calhoun, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11-1.

Sinton was able to grind out a solid win over Calhoun when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Sandcrabs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
