Football Game Preview: Johnston Panthers vs. Rogers Vikings

The Johnston Panthers will head out to face off against the Rogers Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Johnston came up short against Coventry and fell 35-26. The loss put an end to the Panthers' undefeated start to the season.

Despite their defeat, Johnston saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ethan Archambeault, who threw for 201 yards and a pair of TDs, was perhaps the best of all. Yadier Grullon also helped out with an impressive 121 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Rogers beat Chariho 12-7 on Friday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Johnston better keep an eye on Brayden Ward. He was instrumental in Rogers' win, rushing for 101 yards and one touchdown. Ward didn't just play on offense: he also made 12 total tackles and defended one pass.

Rogers' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Johnston, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Johnston took a serious blow against Rogers in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 56-21. Thankfully for the Panthers, Alexander Toribio (who rushed for 173 yards and one score while picking up 9.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
