Basketball Recap: Pembroke Skates Past Barker with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pembroke). They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 65-22 blowout they got against the Barker Bulldogs. With the Dragons ahead 36-8 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Pembroke's win on Monday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Seneca Calderon, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Calderon a new career-high in points. Peyton Liss was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten steals.

Pembroke smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Pembroke's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Barker, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pembroke will challenge Oakfield-Alabama at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Barker, they are taking a road trip to challenge Wilson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
