Volleyball Game Preview: Rock Port Blue Jays vs. Northland Christian

The Rock Port Blue Jays will take on Northland Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Rock Port comes in on ten and Northland Christian on three.

Rock Port proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by three) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Mound City 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Jays have posted since August 30th.

Rock Port had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-18, 15-7.

Rock Port's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Raylynn Jenkins, who had 20 assists and three digs. That's the most assists Jenkins has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Vogler, who had 12 digs and four assists.

Rock Port was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Northland Christian got the win against Lutheran on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.

The final score came out to 25-11, 25-10, 25-19.

Rock Port's record now sits at 28-5-3. As for Northland Christian, their record is now 23-5-3.

Rock Port skirted past Northland Christian 3-2 in their previous matchup back in October of 2023. Do the Blue Jays have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northland Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
