Preview: Glascock County Panthers vs. Taliaferro County JAGUARS
Glascock County is 0-10 against Taliaferro County since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Glascock County Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Taliaferro County JAGUARS at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Glascock County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Glascock County was handed a 38-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Georgia Military College on Tuesday. Glascock County had just enough and edged Georgia Military College out 39-37. The victory was just what Glascock County needed coming off of a 75-37 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Taliaferro County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Lake Oconee Academy on the road and fell 80-36. Taliaferro County has not had much luck with Lake Oconee Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite their loss, Taliaferro County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Deven Gaston, who scored 11 points, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaston has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Orlandus Craft, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Glascock County's victory ended a 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-20. As for Taliaferro County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-15.
Glascock County came up short against Taliaferro County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 59-52. Can Glascock County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
