Basketball Recap: Centennial Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Centennial had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Smyrna Bulldogs by a score of 79-77 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered since January 7th.

Elliyon Kinzer had an outrageously good game for Smyrna as he dropped a double-double with 27 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave Kinzer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Matthews, who went 10-for-18 en route to 22 points and six boards.

Centennial has already played their next contest, an 88-75 victory against Hume-Fogg on the 20th. As for Smyrna, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 82-58 defeat against Brentwood on the 20th.
